Recent conversation with a friend.
Friend. “Are you ever going to retire?”
Me, absentmindedly. “What, no, I haven’t got time.”
And, come to think of it, that’s true. In fact if I want to write everything I’d like to, I won’t have time until somewhere in the next millenium. And I rather think that by then it won’t be retirement that’ll have arrived for me. On the other hand, I can hardly complain, since being constantly busy, happy in what I do, and never bored has to be worth a lot. And how many other people can say that…?

  1. Actually very few people can say they are doing the work they want to do hence retirement. I meet the occasional person in their 70s or 80s who say you have to keep active and by that they mean work at some menial job until you drop just to stay healthy. Now that doesn’t make any sense to me. I want to write and I want to travel.Turning T-shirts into rags? No thanks. Railway survey work? I suppose some of it is okay. But having the CHOICE. A lot of people don’t have that. Not married. No children. So why break me back at age 65? At 65 I get to do what I want to do.

  2. Right on, Lyn. You’ve got your priorities sorted.
Oh, should that say “Write on”?
Well, whatever. Just keep doing it.
